Colonel Ogden's 1st Regiment of New = Jersey (1775-1783)

Welcome!

You have reached the homepage of the First New Jersey Regiment. We are a group of re-enactors who have patterned our organization from an actual fighting unit that distinguished itself during the Revolutionary War. Even though our regiment bears the name of the Garden State, many of us live elsewhere (PA, MD etc.) and we journey to events up and down the East Coast from North Carolina to Quebec. Our goal is to accurately portray, in both appearance and conduct, the "Jersey Blues" (a nickname given to the original regiment due to their preference for blue breeches).

If you would like to learn more about the history of our regiment, please go to the "History" page for a listing of milestones and a biography of Col. Matthias Ogden. Our "Photos" page is a compilation of pictures from various encampments during the last year. The "Schedule" page lists our events for 2009.

We are always looking for new members and not just line soldiers. We have many "camp followers" who enjoy demonstrating to the public how 18th century meals were prepared and how the camp itself was maintained. This is a hobby that is truly for the whole family. If you would like to contact our regiment, you can e-mail us at J4Regiment@Comcast.net. Or stop by one of our events and we would be glad to provide you with further information.
